Black gram is a rich source of protein, Vitamin B, potassium, calcium, iron and riboflavin. It holds a high protein value than most of the legumes. It is said to improve memory and prevent anemia. How to use Urad Dal Split
Minappappu both whole and split can be used to make a variety of delicious dishes ranging from breakfasts, snacks, lunch to dinner. Before cooking it is soaked in water, doing so it exhibits mucilaginous texture and is ground along with rice to make various recipes. Storage
These pulses can be stored in a dry airtight container at room temperature; They should always be stored in airtight containers with tight fitting lids or closures. They should be kept far from heat, air and moisture. Adding a little turmeric powder while storing it helps to keep away the insects. Also a few neem leaves or dry red chillies can be added along with the lentils and saved in an air tight container.

This crop grows best in dry weather conditions; it is grown during summer and rainy seasons and is generally available with us round the year.
