Common sorrel is a tasty herb plant with a distinct lemony flavor. It is a popular leafy vegetable in South India used in making dal and chutney. It has a high vitamin C concentration which helps strenghen the immune system.

Chukka kura is a good source of dietary fiber and a good source of vitamins A, B9 and C. It contains important minerals like potassium, magnesium, sodium, iron and calcium. It is said to help in improving eyesight, reduce skin infections and improves digestion. Sorrel contains a significant amount of iron.
How to use Chukka Kura
Khatta palak can be cooked in the similar way as spinach, it can be used to make curries, cooked with dal, boiled with soups or in a salad. Not only can you use it as a fresh or dried herb in cooking, but you can also make hot and cold teas with it. In south India it is very commonly used in making pappu.

Storage
Chukka koora is stored in a similar manner like other leafy vegetables. It can be stored up to 4 days if kept in an airtight container or wrapped in plastic cover inside the refrigerator, we need to make sure that the leaves need to be dry before storing them.

We sow Chukka koora every couple of weeks and try to make them available all year, with the summer being the peak season.
