Fruit that is slightly raw can be kept at room temperature for a few days to ripen. High content of sugar aggravates mold growth in the fruit. Once ripened, this fruit will not stay fresh for long at room temperature, especially not in a warm room. It can be placed in the refrigerator for cool storage, where it will keep for up to three days. Cut or open fruit can also be store in an air tight container in the refrigerator for a day or two.
This crop grows well in hot and dry climate. Planting is usually done during the rainy season. The plant flowers from April to May and bears fruit between August and November.
