Kadhi patta, that ubiquitous aromatic staple in Indian kitchens, it is indicated to have a variety of therapeutic benefits. It is used in a variety of dishes in Indian and other cuisines. It is used in soups, salads, rasams, curries and dals. Kadhi patta can be used both in fresh and dry form.

Antioxidants are plentiful in karivepaku. It is suggested to be good for heart and managing cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Karivepaku may potentially have antibacterial and pain-relieving properties. When the leaves are eaten raw or juiced, they act as a detox drink. It is high in protein, fiber, calcium, vitamins and minerals, all of which are beneficial to health.

How to use Curry Leaf

Karee patta are most commonly used to season curries, dal, sambar, rasam and a lot more. They are also used to make very tasty chutney; they are also made into curry leave powder that can be eaten with rice, idli or dosa. They are used as a flavoring agent in rice and curries.

Cultivation highlights

Karee patta has to be protected from leaf eating caterpillar’s right from seedling stage. Irrigation should be monitored to avoid fungal attack. Crop should be weeded periodically. At OrganicSiri, we grow all our crops in our own farms organically without use of fertilizers or chemicals.


Fresh leaf is so much more flavorful, even if it only lasts a few days. Fresh leaves can last up to three days. To keep them fresher for longer, wash and dry the leaves to remove any impurities. Dab the leaves with a paper towel to make sure they’ve dried completely, Spread them on a large plate and sundry for two to three days. Once the leaves have dried, transfer to a new airtight container and close the lid properly. Make sure the leaves haven’t retained even a speck of moisture, refrigerate the container


Karivepaku plants at our farms mostly yield round the year. Leaves tend to become unpalatable in certain periods at which time availability is impacted.
